‘Get on Yer Bikes’ for the Friends of the Cancer Centre
Following on from the very successful Charity Cycle ride to Newcastle last year, Rockmount Golf Club have announced that this year’s Charity Cycle Ride will again be to Newcastle and will be on Sunday 12th April. The beneficiary from all proceeds raised this year will be the ‘Friends of the Cancer Centre’ based at the Belfast City Hospital.
Club Captain Eddie Donaldson stated "We are hoping for another tremendous event this year and not only are we inviting our own members and their families to partake, we would like to extend the offer out to members of other Golf Clubs to join us and help us raise vital funds for The Friends of the Cancer Centre".
Dr McAleer, Oncologist at the Cancer Centre, Belfast and Friends of the Cancer Centre trustee said ‘I am delighted to help launch this cycle event and it is set to be a fantastic day. On behalf of Friends of the Cancer Centre, I would like to say a big thank you to the Captain and Lady Captain of Rockmount Golf Club for choosing Friends of the Cancer Centre as their charity partner. The money raised will make a huge difference to the work of the charity and I wish them all the best for the 25 mile challenge.’
The cycle will start at 8.30am (with registration at 7.45am in the clubhouse) and is one way only. Transport will be laid on to bring cyclists and their bikes back to Rockmount from Newcastle if required. Everybody is invited back to Rockmount afterwards to 'recover' and enjoy the entertainment and also the final round of the Masters.
